Continuous professional development (CPD) and specialist training
We offer a wide range of fully-funded CPD opportunities to keep your skills up to date and help you grow in your profession. Each year, we support hundreds of colleagues to attend conferences, short courses, qualifications and degrees.
We also provide specialist training to develop expertise in areas directly relevant to your role, such as:
- Priory’s bespoke four-day eating disorder training
- Diabetes and epilepsy training
- Essential autism training accredited by the National Autistic Society
This ensures our teams have access to the latest knowledge and specialist skills to deliver outstanding care.
In this video, we hear from Steven who shares more about his experience of deciding to try a career in care with Priory.
Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships aren’t just for school leavers – they’re a fantastic way to earn while you learn at every stage of your career.
We are proud to be recognised nationally as one of the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers in the UK by the Department for Education - ranking in the top 40 overall and third in healthcare.

For colleagues in Wales and Scotland who are not eligible to access funding from the apprenticeship levy, we offer alternative opportunities through bursaries and funding.
We currently have over 600 colleagues completing an apprenticeship with us, across a range of specialties including: health and social care, occupational therapy, IT, business, leadership and more.
Our established Nurse Degree Apprenticeship Programme in partnership with the University of Greater Manchester, is something we are very proud of, and hundreds of our colleagues have already been supported into a nursing career through this route.

Career Pathways
Our career pathways help you see the options open to you – and they aren’t just about moving upwards. We place a strong focus on sideways career pathways, helping colleagues develop specialist skills and explore new directions, such as:
- Healthcare Assistant > Autism Lead
- Senior Support Worker > Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner
- Nurses > Professional Nurse Educator
