Job Advert - Division Information

A full-time vacancy has arisen in the small Priory in-house employment law team based in Leicester, with elements of remote hybrid working. The role is full time 37.5 hours per week, but flexi time is available.

The successful candidate will work closely with the HR and operational teams on a day-to-day basis and provide advice and support in relation to all employment law matters including contentious (ET claims) and non-contentious work (advice and risk management). They will report to the General Counsel and Company Secretary.

You will be expected to work at least 37.5 hours a week either at home or in the office.  Flexi-time is available if required. A driving licence would be preferable but not essential.  You will receive a competitive salary and benefits commensurate with the level of your experience.  

Job Advert Location Description

You will be responsible for managing the defence and/or settlement of ACAS and ET claims by Priory employees and ex-employees in relation to alleged breaches of employment legislation (including unfair dismissal, discrimination, breach of contract, unlawful deduction of wages etc). 

You will be required to advise on merits and risk at the start of the claim and prepare relevant documentation including witness statements and defence documents.  You will also be required to attend preliminary hearings and instruct counsel for substantive hearings.  You will need to work closely with the HR and operational teams to ensure all court deadlines are met. 

In addition to the above, you will also be involved in a range of non-contentious matters including (i) providing ad hoc advice to the business; (ii) drafting employment contracts, (iii) carrying out research and reviewing policies; (iv) keeping up to speed with the latest employment law developments; (v) providing and/or organising training.
