The Priory Hospital Middleton St George is located close to Darlington, County Durham and provides individualised treatment and care for people with mental health needs of adult working age and who present with complex and challenging behaviours, in a safe and supportive environment. Our comprehensive integrated services offer complete care pathways allowing service users to transfer effortlessly between the most appropriate care, meeting individual needs enabling recovery and re-engagement within the community and maximising life opportunities.

 

Our multi-disciplinary teams work collaboratively with up to 101 male and female service users and their commissioners, across 7 wards and a step down community facility in Darlington town centre.  We deliver acute care, psychiatric intensive care (PICU) services, and a recovery and rehabilitation environment which includes a specialist female Personality Disorder service.  Our focus is on the delivery of excellent care, empowering service users to progress towards the least restrictive setting and towards independence. 

Job Advert Role Description

The kitchen porter role ensures kitchens are clean and orderly and helps with basic food preparation. They wash dishes, equipment and utensils so they are ready to be used and meet sanitation regulations. They offer support to the kitchen manager and chefs to make sure the kitchen runs smoothly.

The kitchen porter performs the support work to help keep kitchens running on schedule and within food safety regulations.

General responsibilities are:

•           Cleaning and sterilising countertops, kitchen walls, stoves, ovens, grills and sinks

•           Maintaining the food storage areas like freezers and refrigerators

•           Receiving and storing deliveries to kitchen and satellite kitchens

•           Washing dirty dishes like cutlery, pots, cutting boards and pans or loading dishes into the dishwasher

•           Cleaning and maintaining cooking equipment like cookers, pots and food mixers

•           Supporting the Chef in basic food preparation like cutting ingredients, peeling and washing food items

•           Providing assistance to Prep Cooks and other kitchen staff, as needed

•           Deliver meals and other catering supplies to various units around site in a timely and efficient manner.
