The Priory Hospital Newbury are excited to be launching an updated service after a period of expansion and improvements now offering a 34 bed Recovery and Rehabilitation service for men with enduring mental ill health problems. We are set on the southern outskirts of Newbury and have excellent public transport links to London which is just a 50 minute train journey.

Within the service is a care pathway offering an admission ward, a community facing ward, a longer term ward for patients with more complex needs and also a 4 bed flat for patients who are returning to independent living in the community. The site is warm and welcoming with a homely atmosphere. Job Advert Role Description

We are looking to recruit a dynamic individual to join our Occupational Therapy team as an Occupational Therapy Assistant . The successful candidate will provide support and facilitate individual and group sessions to our patients who have long and enduring mental illnesses; working collaboratively with individuals to promote their recovery and enhance their social inclusion. The role will have a significant social and recreational element which will require the development of therapeutic relationships with some out of hours and weekend working. You will assist our Occupational Therapist, Occupational Therapy Assistants & Healthcare Assistants and Nurses in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individual care plans.

The successful Occupational Therapy Assistant will have excellent listening, communication and report writing skills. You will be motivated, highly reliable and able to work within an emotionally demanding environment. You will be able to demonstrate a positive, creative and an imaginative approach to problem solving. It is desirable that you will have relevant experience within mental health. This role involves organising activities and taking patients out in to the community and on rehabilitation trips. It is  therefore essential that the post holder is willing to drive our hospital vehicles and satisfies company requirements.

This position may include some weekend working however we could be flexible with hours for the right candidate. We could consider an experienced Healthcare Assistant who wanted part of their position in the OTA role, involved in facilitating group and ward based activities.
