Priory Hospital Bristol is an elegant 18th century country residence set in beauiful parkland close to the centre of Bristol, less than 5 minutes away from the M32 leading directly onto the M4/M5 motorway.  Bristol is part of the Healthcare Division of Priory Group it has 77 beds over seven wards varying from Eating Disorders, Acute Mental Health, Adult Psychiatric Intensive Care, Acquired Brain Injury, Huntingdon’s and Dementia.Please contact Dr Harland, Medical Director for further information - RachelHarland@priorygroup.com.

Job Advert Role Description

The successful candidate will have responsibility for the patients on Lotus Ward, a ten bedded, mixed gendered, specialist eating disorder unit that runs a diverse therapy programme. We are dedicated to providing personalized anorexia treatment, support and therapy.  Patients admitted to the ward for treatment will primarily have a diagnosis of Anorexia Nervosa but may have co-morbid mental or physical health conditions such as Autism, PTSD or Personality Disorders. Lotus is a locked unit but patients will be prescribed leave by their Consultant on an individual basis depending on their progress. The MDT work in collaboration together to create a personalised treatment plan for all patients.

Duties include providing outpatient assessments for both new and follow-ups. There will be an expectation that urgent slots will be provided if needed.

The ward has a Multidisciplinary Team including a sessional Speciality Doctor.  

You will hold a CCST / CCT (or equivalent) in the relevant areas of Psychiatry and will have experience of working in inpatient and outpatient settings with people with significant mental health difficulties.  You will have experience at consultant level psychiatry and will have held a consultant position in the NHS.

You will hold a current license to practice and be on the appropriate specialist register.

Person Specification

1. MRCPsych or equivalent

2. AC approved and S12 approved MHA 1983

3. Previous experience as an NHS consultant

4. Acute inpatient and outpatient experience

5. CCT in General adult psychiatry

6. Experience in working with multi-disciplinary team and being a clinical leader

7. Experience of supervising junior medical staff

8. Experience of working with management team

9. Experience of service change and improvement

10. Experience of involvement in clinical governance and improvement
