Job Advert Role Description

A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Hospital Director to join us at Priory Kent House. Kent House is a 17-bedded Tier 4 low secure hospital for young people aged 12 – 18 years with mental health, behavioural or psychological difficulties, and an OFSTED-registered school which supports the young people with educational attainment.

The service is set in a rural environment with close links and transport to the local community and amenities.

We provide care for the young people admitted to Kent House Hospital in the least restrictive way and we adhere to the values and principles of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). We are members of the Quality Network for Inpatient CAMHS to measure and improve the quality of our care and treatment.

The Hospital Director will have accountability for the financial and operational performance of the hospital. This includes setting the standard by leading the Hospital Senior Management Team (SMT) and taking ownership for cost control, budgeting, and ensuring regulatory requirements are satisfied. The Hospital Director will also be the Registered Manager; responsible for the delivery of day-to-day services in line with legal requirements.

The post holder will be responsible for the operational management and lead the overall function of the Hospital, including full P&L accountability. You will take responsibility for effectively implementing hospital policies and procedures to enable the provision of a high-quality service, both in respect of patient care and employee engagement.

This role offers plenty of variety and everyday will be different but some duties will include:

  • Leading the Senior Management team on site on all aspects of day to day business.
  • Leading and developing a culture where the very highest standards of safety, quality and excellent patient care are consistently delivered.
  • Developing and maintaining strategic external relationships
  • Driving recruitment and retention plans on site
  • Reviewing any audit or inspections reports ensuring compliance with all statutory regulatory bodies

What we're looking for from you:

  • Approved post graduate degree
  • Extensive managerial & leadership experience with a thorough understanding of developing services for healthcare
  • Passionate about providing high quality care
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise and multi-task
  • Passionate about continuous improvement with a demonstrated track record in organisation change
  • The ability to deal with multiple issues simultaneously in a highly dynamic environment
  •  Experience of commercial accountability for cost control and financial performance
  • Experience of making informed decisions sometimes in difficult circumstances.
  • Experience of leading a diverse team
  • Strong track record of innovation and making changes to the operation to further improve the work environment and site performance.
