Set in the leafy suburb of Edgbaston, close to Birmingham City centre, Priory Hospital Woodbourne is conveniently located for access to the West Midlands motorway network and with very good local public transport links. 
 
The hospital provides a diverse range of inpatient services, including acute and psychiatric intensive care, Child and Adolescent Mental Health, specialist Eating Disorder and private acute and addictions treatment programmes.  Our multi-disciplinary teams deliver personalised treatment programmes to our patients and have established an excellent reputation for providing the highest standards of care.

Acer Ward is a 10 bedded Acute Psychiatric inpatient ward for 18-25 year olds. All the beds are allocated to our Partnership with Forward Thinking Birmingham (FTB). All of our referrals come directly from the community, either from the Home treatment team, Place of Safety, A&E or police custody and some repatriated from out of area.  

The primary function of the  is to work with young people whose risks may be greater than that can be managed in the community, and therefore our team focus mainly on comprehensive psychiatric assessment including risk assessment and management.

Job Advert Role Description

We are seeking a part time  Consultant Psychiatrist who will work alongside a dedicated Speciality Doctor to care for up to 10 patients through assessment of individuals needs throughout admission, ensuirng a person centred collaborative treatment plans.

We require the candidate to have the following attributes:

• Previous Consultancy experience is desirable but not essential
• You will fulfil the role of Responsible/Approved Clinician to patients
• You must hold a CCST/CCT or equivalent and have experience of working in inpatient settings with people with significant mental health difficulties
• Valid GMC registration
• Evidence of post registration continuing professional development
• A positive attitude and commitment to change, improvement and quality
• Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
• Excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice
• The post-holder will participate in an on call rota (pro rata)
