Job Advert Location Description

Priory Group is the leading healthcare provider for mental health services in the UK with an established track record of delivering high-quality clinical care. The Priory Hospital Southampton is part of the Priory group offering outpatient, day care and inpatient treatment for a wide range of mental health difficulties. The hospital is located in Marchwood on the outskirts of Southampton and comprises 40 inpatient beds across three wards.  
Sandpiper Ward: This is an acute admissions unit comprising 17 beds.  Skylark Ward:  11 bedded specialist eating disorders unit 
Kingfisher Ward:  12 bedded CAMHS inpatient unit 
The hospital has a combination of employed and visiting consultants and well established multidisciplinary teams in all wards including nursing, therapy, occupational therapy and psychology input. The non-consultant doctors in the hospital include three full-time specialty doctors and one full-time resident Medical Officer.  
The hospital provides a combination of NHS funded and private care and has been rated as “Good” in recent CQC inspection with “outstanding” rating in the” caring” domain. 

Job Advert Role Description

This is 1 WTE substantive post equivalent to 10 PAs which has become available because of current post holder moving to a different role. 
The role involves providing consultant input to 12 bedded CAMHS inpatient ward which is part of local provider collaborative and offers treatment for adolescents aged 12 and above. The multidisciplinary team in the Kingfisher includes Clinical Psychologist, Occupational Therapist, Family therapist and the education department. A full time ward manager provides operational support to the team. 

The senior management team of the hospital includes Hospital Director, Director of Clinical Services, Medical Director and the Support Services Manager. 

The ward is also part of Priory CAMHS Service line which oversees service development across all Priory CAMHS units. The service line is led by the Professional lead, Kris Irons and Dr David Kingsley, who is clinical director for the CAMHS service line. The post holder would have opportunity to become involved in service line network and shape development of CAMHS services across the Priory Group. 

The post holder would contribute to the on call rota of the hospital which is currently one in six weeks and supports out of hours cover by providing telephonic support and attending the hospital in exceptional circumstances only. There is on call manager to support the hospital out of hours.  

Responsibilities of the role are as follows:
1. Morning board review meeting led by the consultant 
2. Weekly MDT reviews for all inpatients
3. Admission planning meetings and CPAs for inpatients
4. Weekly CAP meetings with the provider collaborative to discuss new referrals
5. Weekly learning from experience meetings with Kingfisher MDT and DoCS/HD to review incidents 
6. Monthly ward development meetings with the MDT
7. Monthly clinical governance and medicines management meetings
8. Liaison with families and community services as required
9. Weekly supervision to the specialty doctor

The postholder is expected to be on the GMC specialist register for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and hold current AC approval. 

Support for the Post holder
1. The post holder would be supported by a full time specialty doctor post
2. Priory Group has a robust system in place to support appraisals and revalidation and annual appraisals would be arranged by the Priory Group. 
3. Priory supports continuing professional development and access to study leave with associated expenses is available via centrally allocated budget and approval system. 
4. The post is supported by 0.5WTE medical secretary. 
5. The hospital has weekly peer supervision group and bi monthly clinical forum. There is local supervision group which postholder would be welcome to join.
