We are seeking a forward-thinking Assistant Head Teacher - Head of Post-16 and Pupil Development who will encourage and inspire our teachers, support staff and learners at Coxlease School. 

Coxlease School is a specialist provision set just outside of Lyndhurst.  Boasting direct access to New Forest walks and a calming, spacious site, Coxlease School provides a therapeutic approach to teaching SEMH students. 

We are a small school with ages ranging from Primary years to post-16, so it comes to no surprise that positive relationships with staff and students is at the forefront of what we do. We provide education through a holistic, SEND friendly curriculum, incorporating therapy, social skills and an enrichment programme into our everyday teaching.

Within the role you will:

  • Lead and manage our two post-16 provisions: The Hub and The Skills Centre.
  • Motivate and inspire staff in supporting pupils so that they receive the best possible educational experience that enhances the life chances and prepares them to be successful members of society.
  • Ensure that all aspects of the post-16 provisions, including the programmes of study, health and safety, safeguarding and management of staff are effectively managed and rigirously quality assured.
  • Establish and maintain positive links with stakeholders, including local colleges, local authorities, parents/carers and the wider community.
  • Lead and oversee the CIEG programme, ensuring that staff across all sites are armed with the skills and knowledge to effectively support pupils to make appropriate choices about their futures.
  • Effectively implement monitoring and evaluation procedures so that pupils are set challenging goals that maximise their potential to make holistic progress.
  • Monitor, in laision with the SLT, the teaching and learning, curriculum, environment and pupil voice of post-16 so that the quality of education is ensured.
  • Support and attend PEPs and Annual Reviews, ensuring that the pupils targets and best interests are represented through the school.
  • Effectively manage staff, ensuring that, through the PDR appraisal system, that their wellbeing, career and CPD aspirations are being fully supported.
  • Responsible for the admissions at post-16, ensuring that pupil numbers are managed so that programmes of study remain viable and appropriate for need on an individualised basis.
  • Contribute, alongside the SLT, to the overall development of the school, ensuring that the school ethos and vision is embodied in your practice to strive for continual improvement.
  • Ensure, alongside the SLT, that the attendance, behaviours and personal development of pupils are tracked, monitored and actioned upon effectively when necessary.
  • Implement forward thinking strategies to further grow and develop our post-16 provision.
