Job Advert Role Description

Are you ready to make a real and lasting difference? Would you like to be part of a team committed to ensuring that our children and young people achieve their full potential?

Aspris Children’s Services (an independent company which was formally Priory Education and Children’s Services) is one of the UK’s leading independent providers of specialist care and education for a reason. We recruit some of the most committed staff in the sector. With over 100 high quality schools, colleges and homes we focus on making a real and lasting difference for everyone we support.

About our home: Set in a semi-rural location within four acres of beautifully mature grounds.  We believe Minerva Children’s Home is a very special home for children and young people where daily living experiences and activities are meaningful and memorable and are designed to meet the needs of individual children in areas that are personal to them.

Within our safe, structured and predictable environment, pupils will develop the skills needed to live as independently as possible, so that they are able to enjoy their lives and make real life choices as they reach adulthood. Children may also have challenging behaviour as a result of their communication difficulties and lack of social understanding.

The role:

As a Residential Support Worker, you will ensure that the children and young people in your care are safe, healthy and able to make a positive contribution, realising their full potential through enjoyment, achievement and economic well being.

This is a 38 week (term-time) post and you will work in the residential setting but will also spend time in school supporting during the academic day.  The successful candidate must be prepared to work on a shift system including early, late and weekend shifts.

What we'd like from you:

  • Emotional resilience
  • Flexibility, resourcefulness
  • A strong 'can do' attitude
  • Highly developed organisational skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Previous experience in a special needs environment/school would be desirable but not essential as full training will be given.

If you would like to find out more or if you have specific questions to ask before making an application please contact Dianne Price, School Business Manager on 07795 636193.

What do you get in return?

  • A generous salary
  • Being part of a company that invests in you and your team for personal and professional development
  • Reward and discount schemes
  • Pension
  • Enhanced DBS fee paid
  • Access to a holiday package
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Wellbeing support

Aspris is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  All applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure & Barring Service.
