Job Advert Role Description

Aspris Children’s Services (an independent company which was formally Priory Education and Children’s Services) is one of the UK’s leading independent providers of specialist care and education for a reason. We recruit some of the most committed teachers in the sector.

We require a motivated, skilled and resilient primary or middle years teacher with experience of supporting young people on the autistic spectrum.

The role will suit a qualified teacher who can demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and the ability to teach effectively across a range of subject areas, and across all age groups.

You will:

  • Have a flexible approach and will be able to meet the changing needs of our young people.
  • Be able to demonstrate significant experience of working with young people with complex needs, and have the confidence and skills to deal with the challenging behaviour that some of our young people can, at times, exhibit.
  • Ideally have experience of working with young people who require personal care and have complex communication issues.
  • Direct and mentor classroom support staff.

Enthusiasm, willingness to learn and emotional resilience are essential attributes.

Experience of working in a SEN environment is essential, along with knowledge of working with ASD and complex needs.

You will join a supportive and experienced team of dedicated education and support staff. Full training and development will be provided along with a bespoke induction programme and the ability to network with teachers across other Aspris sites.

To be considered for the role, you must have a full UK driving licence with at least 3 years of driving experience.

What do you get in return?

  • A generous salary
  • Being part of a company that invests in you and your team for personal and professional development
  • Reward and discount schemes
  • Pension
  • Enhanced DBS fee paid
  • Access to a holiday package
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Wellbeing support

Aspris is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  All applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure & Barring Service.

Newbury Manor School is a specialist school for 40 young people aged 7 to 19 who have autistic spectrum disorders (ASD). Our tailored approach means we are able to support young people with a wide range of needs, from those who are broadly average in their ability to others, who have more severe learning difficulties.

We provide a total environment where young people are offered safe, secure and predictable surroundings in which they can come to understand their own areas of difficulties and learn skills and techniques in order to overcome them. This ensures that they are able to fulfil their potential socially, academically, physically and spiritually and enable them to rebuild their low self-esteem and self-belief.

We take pride in the environment we can offer. The school is located in a beautiful, quiet, rural location in Somerset in a Georgian manor house, which has a range of outbuildings and extensive grounds. Our ethos was created in the belief that a positive, supportive, achieving culture is essential for good pupil progress. We seek to maximise independence and individual potential so pupils gain the skills to live happy, meaningful and fulfilling lives.
