Priory Hospital Burgess Hill is a specialist service providing care for people with mental illnesses. 
We have a male acute service, a male high dependency unit, a female low secure unit. 
The site employs a full multidisciplinary range of services to provide rehabilitation and/or stabilisation of mood and behaviour. We provide individual treatment programmes with time-lined goals and objectives to support the patients to achieve optimum rehabilitation or behaviour stabilisation, to achieve their potential and to work towards successful, sustainable discharge.

 

Job Advert Role Description

We are currently looking for a qualified Social worker to join our Therapies team, using their skills, knowledge and understanding of practice to provide a Social Work Service to patients within the secure environment. 

You will be responsible for:
•  Identifying and contribute to the assessment and management of risk, whilst balancing the need for public protection
•  Offering a Social Work perspective to work with patients and the multi-disciplinary team, highlighting and challenging discriminatory structures and practices where identified
•  Acting as the main contact between relatives, agencies and other official organisations taking a lead in negotiations and communications regarding patients, co-ordinating multi agency liaison
•  Assisting and supports regional management in developing and implementing new services
•  To act as Appropriate Adult (under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act) for patients when required

Experience and qualifications required:
•  Degree level Social Work qualification
•  Registration with GSCC (RSW)
•  Detailed knowledge and understanding of current legislation
•  Experience within a similar setting (forensic, criminal justice or mental health)
