Job Advert Role Description

Aspris Children’s Services (an independent company which was formally Priory Education and Children’s Services) is one of the UK’s leading independent providers of specialist care and education for a reason. We recruit some of the most committed people in the sector.

Our school:

Aspris College Stroud, linked to Farleigh Further Education College Frome is an independent specialist residential college for young people aged 16 to 25 with autistic spectrum disorders, Asperger's syndrome and associated complex needs including behavioural difficulties.

The college has eight residential houses in the community each with its own identity, working ethos and dedicated team of staff. This provides learners with the opportunity to experience independent living in a range of different settings.

We aim to provide every young person with an individually tailored programme of education, care, work experience, leisure and life skills and training within the community, to enable them to live as independently as possible.

Our dedicated team of staff create a safe, secure and independent living environment where our learners have a sense of belonging within their group and a sense of ownership of their home. Our approach enables young people to develop the confidence and skills they need to progress towards adulthood, including further or higher education and sustainable independent living in the community.

About the role:

Based in our provision in Stroud, you will be a key member of our education support team, working as part of a specialist team of Tutors and Therapists to deliver personalised curriculum packages that motivate and inspire our students. Experience in similar role would be useful, but as long as you have the communication and caring skills required for this role and a willingness to learn, we will give you all the training and development you need to succeed.

As a Learning Support Assistant you will be a key member of our team, providing high standards of person-centered support and care to our service users. Through a creative and caring approach, you will build good relationships with both service users and their families, supporting service users in their education and the planning of goals.

Successful candidates will contribute to the effective implementation of individual programmes by supporting the teaching and learning, social and independence activities and experiences, which enhance the learning and development of our students.

The successful candidate will also carry out a number of administration tasks, including writing reports for parents and external agencies, as well as daily paperwork.  You will be alert and observant with regards to the well being of the learners and aware of the specific needs of learners with ASD. As a member of the team, you'll be sharing and recording information as appropriate.

Whilst not essential, experience of supporting children and young people with ASD and complex needs would be an advantage.

You must also be able to demonstrate a high degree of emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

What do you get in return?

  • A generous salary
  • Being part of a company that invests in you and your team for personal and professional development
  • Reward and discount schemes
  • Pension
  • Enhanced DBS fee paid
  • Access to a holiday package
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Wellbeing support.
