Job Advert Location Description

Priory Hospital Chelmsford is a good quality Priory Hospital which provides care for patients with a wide range of mental health conditions across a number of different wards as well as providing outpatient care.

This is an exciting, and rare, opportunity to become an employed consultant within the hospital which aims to provide a real and lasting difference for everyone we support.

The post provides an unique opportunity for a consultant to work mainly in the general adult setting and also keep his addiction knowledge up to date thru regular clinical work. We believe, this post provides this rare opportunity in this highly fragmented sub-specialised world of Psychiatry.

Job Advert Role Description

This is a full-time employed Consultant post to work alongside Visiting Consultants and other employed consultants within Priory Hospital Chelmsford.

The postholder will provide consultant input for Private and NHS acute general psychiatry patients (and Addictions depending on competencies) within the hospital and on an outpatient basis (including provision of urgent slots for some of these assessments).

The postholder will take part in the on-call rota of the hospital and provide cross cover for employed colleagues as required.

The postholder will take part in relevant clinical governance activities and take on roles as appropriate in the management of the hospital.

The postholder will work closely with Therapy Services for outpatients and daypatients.

The postholder will use carenotes as the primary record.

The postholder will be registered with all private health insurers in their own right as a practitioner. While the consultant remains employed by Priory, they will not be entitled to receive any private patient fees personally for patients seen during their contracted hours.

The postholder will have a prescribed connection with Priory for revalidation.

The postholder will have an agreed job plan with the Medical Director/Hospital Director specifying the expected activity levels in terms of the number of sessions of outpatients/inpatients/day patients/management.
