Job Advert Location Description

Stroud Eating Disorders Service (SEDS) is a specialist residential service providing medium to long-term support and treatment for young people and young adults (aged 13-25) suffering from eating disorders and other associated complex mental health difficulties. We provide care and treatment within 3 residential homes. 

We are excited about the creation of this new role within our service. The successful candidate will have the rewarding opportunity to build long term, meaningful relationships with our young people, and create and facilitate therapeutic activities to support their recovery. We are fortunate to be able to do this in warm, homely environments within the beautiful Stroud Valleys, in Gloucestershire. 

Our therapeutic model focuses on supporting our service users to build a life outside of the confines of their eating disorder. We work hard to support those that live in our homes to build their own resilience, sense of self, ability and motivation to connect with the world around them.   

Althea Park House in Stroud is a 10 bedded site for young adults aged 17-25. This is divided into Althea Park House which has 7 beds and The Anchor is a 3 bedded semi-independent step-down home (18+)

The Stroud Eating Disorders Service is seeking a positive and motivated individual to join our Therapies Team and contribute to creating excellent outcomes for our service users. 

The Activities Coordinator role will be based at Althea Park House, in Stroud, working with young adults with eating disorders and other comorbid mental illnesses. 

The role will be primarily concerned with 3 main areas:

1) Supporting the delivery of a therapeutic programme.
2) Planning, coordination and delivery of activities. 
3) Working with young adults, under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, to practice life skills.

The successful candidate would work a mixture of hours across the week and weekends. Our aim is to meet the needs of the young people by providing a consistent provision across the week. We are keen to appoint the right candidate for this role and are happy to consider a flexible working pattern which also suits you.
