Job Advert Role Description

Aspris Children’s Services (an independent company which was formally Priory Education and Children’s Services) is one of the UK’s leading independent providers of specialist care and education for a reason. We recruit some of the most committed staff in the sector.

We want you to get off to the best start with us so we are giving you £250 when you first start with us and then when you are settled in in 6 months’ time we will give you an extra £250 for your hard work!

Our Children’s Home, situated in Rhonnda Cynon Taff, is seeking a permanent full time Senior Residential Support Worker.  This is a four bed home for young people with emotional behavioural difficulties, mild learning disabilities and autism.

A Level 3 in Children and Young People qualification is essential for this role. Successful applicants will have previous experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour.

Due to the rural location of the Home in Rhondda Cynon Taff the successful candidate would need to be a driver and have your own car.

As a Senior Support Worker, you’ll be doing the following:

  • Supporting the management to run a successful staff team and all day to day operations of the home
  • To assist the management team with the supervisions of junior staff
  • Inducting new staff into the homes procedure and culture
  • Ensuring the highest standards of care in relation to the young people’s physical, behavioural and emotional needs.
  • Be the young person’s champion and as part of the wider team strive to ensure that they achieve their aspirations and full potential
  • Assist senior staff with the writing and maintaining of placement and risk management plans
  • Support young people in daily activities including family contact, attending local clubs, 1:1 activities in the community, promoting independence and social behaviour
  • You will be assigned a key child and play a pivotal role in their day to day life including attending reviews and liaising with external agencies
  • Support and encourage educational engagement.

To ensure the young people are cared for in a consistent manner, a rota system is in place which includes sleeping in duties and being away from home for a couple of days at a time. This provides the young people with the needed security and nurture they have often missed through their childhood. However whilst you are on shift the home will become a comfortable space for you as day to day living is very similar to that of your own home. All home comforts including meals are provided.

Being a part of a rota system then also means you have similar time to spend at home; which is a bonus.

Your Benefits

  • A generous salary
  • Being part of a company that invests in you and your team for personal and professional development
  • Reward and discount schemes
  • Pension
  • Enhanced DBS fee paid
  • Access to a holiday package
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Wellbeing support
  • Build your career with Aspris; rewards and recognition schemes in place for ongoing service.

Aspris is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  All applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure & Barring Service.

*Candidates referred through an agency or a current employee are not eligible for the joining bonus.
