Job Advert Role Description

We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist for our NHS Ward. The successful candidate will be on the Specialist GMC Register, or equivalent, and will be required to maintain full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC).

The successful candidate will be an approved clinician.

Key  Responsibilities:

  • Manage 10 acute psychiatric NHS inpatients. Act as responsible consultant and responsible Clinician for detained patients
  • Prepare MHA tribunal reports and other associated documentation as necessary. See each patient once a week and chair CPA meetings and MDT Ward rounds.
  • Attend weekly liaison meeting with BEH Mental Health Trust.
  • Provide supervision to a speciality doctor.
  • The post holder will be expected to attend the weekly postgraduate CPD meeting.
  • The post holder will be expected to participate in Clinical Governance and to carry out audits.
  • The post holder will be expected to complete regular risk assessments. 
  • The post holder will be expected to teach medical students from University College London.
  • We will provide a secretary to provide administrative assistance with letters and reports.
