Job Advert Role Description

We are seeking a full time Maintenance Assistant who will be based at Sedgemoor Manor School. The school is set in a beautiful rural location, enjoys extensive grounds and occupies a range of buildings across the school campus.

You will be a key part of our maintenance team, delivering an efficient and effective service to assist in the well-being and safety of our students and staff team.  The successful candidate will have the skills to maintain a well-decorated, safe and comfortable environment throughout the school in line with quality standards and statutory regulations.

Experience in a trade/maintenance role or similar is desirable.

Applicants should have the ability to apply regulations such as Health & Safety, manual handling & COSHH. The ability to operate and understand basic electrical/mechanical systems. Be able to work to and adapt risk assessments where required. Be competent at basic building repairs and maintenance. Be able to use small industrial, electrical and mechanical equipment.

Applicants must have a flexible approach, work to a high standard and be able to meet the changing needs of the school. An understanding of the nature of working within a school setting and its associated risks is desirable.  The roles offers a great deal of variety and you will be an integral part of our school community.

A clean driving licence with at least 3 years driving experience is essential.

Sedgemoor Manor is a specialist day school registered for young people who have needs associated with a diagnosis on the autistic spectrum/SPLD and are aged between 10 and 18 years. Our tailored approach means we are able to support young people with a wide range of learning difficulties. We accept that young people who are referred to us may have previously experienced a ‘cycle of failure’ and our aim is to have a transformational impact on their lives by them experiencing a ‘culture of success’. For all roles we require a minimum of two references.  References provided must cover the last 3 years, for all of our services we will need to request all references from where you have worked with either Children or Vulnerable Adults.
