We are seeking a Residential Support Worker to join our children's home in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. Our home supports up to three young people of either gender between the age of 8 to 18 years of age, who have challenging behaviours and emotional behavioural difficulties.  

To get you off to the best start with us, we will be including a £500 bonus! You will receive £250 when you first start, and then a further £250 upon successful completion of your probationary period!*

We use a rota system to ensure the young people in our home get the care they need.  This may include working some weekends and bank holidays.  A normal pattern would be a 15 hour shift including a sleep in.

An example shift pattern would be:

  • Monday 8.00am - 23.00pm plus sleep in
  • Tuesday 8.00am - 23.00pm plus sleep in
  • Finish at 9am on Wednesday morning.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our forward thinking children’s home that is at the forefront of children’s residential care.

Our Residential Support Workers support with the following:

  • Supporting the young people in every day living including transporting to and from school placements
  • Being the young person’s advocate when they cannot do this for themselves
  • Working as a team and supporting colleagues and senior staff 
  • Ensuring administration is completed in line with statutory regulations
  • Assisting senior staff with the writing and maintaining of placement and risk management plans
  • Confident with managing behaviours that challenge
  • Liaising with external agencies and represent the home to a high standard.
  • Supervising family contact sessions
  • Encouraging educational engagement.

A Level 3 or Level 4 Residential Childcare qualification is desirable for this role, however is not essential as full training will be provided.
