Job Advert Role Description

Aspris Children’s Services (an independent company which was formally Priory Education and Children’s Services) is one of the UK’s leading independent providers of specialist care and education for a reason. We recruit some of the most committed staff in the sector.

To get you off to the best start with Aspris, we will also be offering a £1000 bonus! This will be £500 when you first start, and a following £500 once you have passed your probation (this will be pro rata for part time staff)*

We are looking for passionate, professional and dedicated employees to work with children and young adults with autistic spectrum disorders and challenging behaviour.

As a member of our residential care team, you will strive to bring out the best in every young person by supporting and guiding them in their daily lives. This could be in the form of helping the young person at school, accompanying them to take part in an activity (walking, horse riding, trampolining, Duke of Edinburgh etc.) or simply assisting them in completion of general daily tasks, including morning and night time routines.

The homes operate a rolling rota which indicates your shift patterns for the following 12 weeks. A typical early shift would be 07:30-16:00 and a late shift 15:30-22:00. You will work a combination of early and late shifts as assigned by the house manager. We also offer the opportunity to earn an additional £35 for a sleep-in shift, as well as the possibility of overtime.

Most of our young people attend Oliver House School, an independent specialist day and residential school for children aged 6 to 19 who have autistic spectrum disorders and associated complex learning needs and challenging behaviour.

Our aim is to enable every young person to have positive experiences and progress according to their individual abilities. The desired outcome is for them to achieve success in accredited qualifications and to gain increased levels of independence in order to maximise their strengths, abilities and ambitions.

Candidates should be:

  • Patient, sociable and empathetic, in order to establish good relationships with our young people based on confidence, trust, understanding and mutual respect
  • Prepared to deal with challenging behaviour which may be exhibited by a young person at any time for any number of reasons
  • Willing to assist in household maintenance tasks such as cleaning in order to maintain the high level of cleanliness expected within the children’s homes.

Our opportunities are available in Ribbleton, Grimsargh, Penwortham, Lostock Hall and Leyland (please indicate preference in application).

At Aspris, we are dedicated to enhancing the life opportunities of the children and young people within our homes, and always celebrate uniqueness and diversity.

Our homes are part of a large children’s group with a national footprint offering significant development, support and progression opportunities. We also operate a fostering service and a number of high quality specialist schools in both the UK and the Middle East.

What do you get in return?

  • A generous salary
  • Being part of a company that invests in you and your team for personal and professional development
  • Reward and discount schemes
  • Pension
  • Enhanced DBS fee paid
  • Access to a holiday package
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Wellbeing support

Aspris is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.  All applicants must be willing to undergo safeguarding screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure & Barring Service.

*Current staff and staff sourced by agencies will not be eligible for this joining bonus.
