Our Support Workers are key members of our team providing high standards of person-centred support and care to our young people.  Through a creative and caring approach you will build good relationships with both service users and their families supporting them in the planning of goals and in living as independently as possible.  Both person centred care and participation in activities are key tasks for the role so energy and initiative is vital. 

Due to the remote location of the home you would need to have a driving license and your own vehicle.

As a Residential Support Worker, you will:

  • Be the young person’s champion and as part of the wider team strive to ensure that they achieve their aspirations and full potential
  • Manage the well-being and behaviour of young people ensuring behaviour's are addressed promptly and sensitively
  • Support young people in daily activities including family contact, attending local clubs, 1:1 activities in the community, promoting independence and social behaviour
  • Be assigned a key child and play a pivotal role in their day to day life including attending reviews and liaising with external agencies and advocating their needs
  • Support and encourage educational engagement and attainment including homework and behavioural support within the education setting.

We use a rota system to ensure the young people in our home get the care they need.  This may include working some weekends and bank holidays.  Typical shifts are 08:00 - 23:00, 08:00 - 16:00, 09:00 - 17:00 and 15:00 - 23:00.

Our homes are part of a large children’s group with a national footprint offering significant development, support and progression opportunities. We also operate a fostering service and a number of high quality specialist schools in both the UK and the Middle East. 

Belhaven is a therapeutic children's home for up to 5 young people, age 11-18, who have a variety of diagnosis including PTSD, attachment issues, eating disorder, depression and often display self-harming and risk taking behaviours. We have an experienced team inclusive of mental health nurses and psychotherapist, that provide mental health support on site, utilising a secure base model of care.

The overall focus of the home is to achieve positive outcomes for young people; we do this though personalised care planning, creating positive attachments, consistent key working, engaging in community based activities and building on their life skills. In addition to this we used varying observation levels, restricted items and nursing workshops to improve the mental health of the young people. 

Our children's home provides care and support to children and young people that require mental health assessment and intervention.  We utilise the secure base model of Care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.  We have an experienced team inclusive of Mental Health Nurses.  We offer therapy and education on site.  The overall focus of the home is to achieve positive outcomes for young people, we do this through multi agency working, personalised care planning and creating positive attachments.

For all roles we require a minimum of two references.  References provided must cover the last 3 years, for all of our services we will need to request all references from where you have worked with either Children or Vulnerable Adults. Please be advised that references may be requested prior to interview for roles within our schools.
