Job Advert Role Description

We are seeking Senior Support Workers to join our family at Arden Care & College, part of Priory Education & Children’s Services.

We are looking for highly motivated people who have the desire to progress. 

The successful candidate will:

  • Provide support across both our residential sites and our main college building
  • Be patient, sociable and empathetic, in order to establish good relationships with our young people based on confidence, trust, understanding and mutual respect
  • Support our young adults who display challenging behaviour, with compassion and care and will access training to support this
  • Assist residents in day to day household tasks such as cooking and cleaning
  • Support the Registered Home Manager with the day to day running of the home, providing cover in the absence of the manager, when you will support and guide the staffing team.

As a Senior staff member of staff you will also be responsible for regulatory paperwork, and liaise with external professionals and families.  You should have the confidence and ability to work as a part of a successful team and also use your own initiative.

Arden College is situated in the heart of Southport, a vibrant and cultured town on the West coast of Lancashire.  The college makes the most of its position and much of the extended college curriculum is located within the community and vocational settings within the region.  The college is a co-educational residential and day specialist college for students aged 16 - 25 years with complex learning difficulties, autism and challenging behaviour.  Individual programmes of day or residential support are available as either 38 of 52 week placements for up to a three year period.  Our aim is to ensure that learners are prepared for independent adult life, including employment.

Arden College provides an inclusive communication environment that supports students with their individualised communication systems.  This includes spoken words, signing and both high tech and low tech AAC systems. 

Arden college is inspected by OFSTED and is graded as Good (2019).  All of our residential homes are inspected by CQC.

For all roles we require a minimum of two references.  References provided must cover the last 3 years, for all of our services we will need to request all references from where you have worked with either Children or Vulnerable Adults. Please be advised that references may be requested prior to interview for roles within our schools.
