Job Advert Role Description

Arden College is a specialist college for students aged 16-25 with autism, complex learning difficulties and challenging behaviours. .

We are looking for a Registered Manager with a Level 5 Diploma Leadership and Management qualification to join our service. As part of our service we are looking for a new member of the team to manage adult residential care provision in the Southport area, where young adults reside whilst attending the college setting. The residential provision is part of a wider cluster of services including a Specialist College and eight residential homes which specialise in educating and caring for young people with Autism and learning difficulties. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a strong leader who is passionate about improving and supporting the lives of the young people we educate and care for.

You will have:

  • A minimum of 2 years experience of running a successful residential provision and have a strong back ground in working with people with Autism and learning difficulties.
  • Be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the needs and daily challenges faced by the young people we care for and your focus will be on protection and safety of our young people and staff members.
  • Be able to demonstrate your leadership and decision making skills and will have strong experience of managing large numbers of staff successfully.
  •  An enthusiastic leader with the skills to be able to motivate your staff team to gain the best outcomes for the young people in your care.


  • To competently complete the registration process and become the Registered Manager.
  • Establish and maintain standards and monitor the delivery of high quality, person centred care to young people referred to our service in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain good practice in accordance with the CQC Standards and know how to implement them in a professional manner in the service.
  • Proactively lead the staff team consistently in conjunction with the deputy manager and seniors with the aim of creating and delivering a safe and warm environment in which Young People can achieve the positive outcomes.
  • Provide professional supervision for all staff, some of which is delegated through other senior staff, to aid their development, learning and understanding of their role, provide constructive criticism and contribute to regular appraisals.
  • Contribute to the recruitment process including short listing for interviews and undertaking membership of the interview panel.
  • Be pro-active in organising visits, forwarding appropriate material to referring authorities and families.
  • Represent when Social Workers or commissioning officers visit.
  • Be prepared to facilitate inspections at any time answering questions in a professional manner and providing requested material.
  • Willingness to carry out all health and safety requirements for the provision.
