The Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal is a specialist provider of complex mental health services, providing clinical excellence in our eating disorders, adolescent, rehabilitation and PICU services.


An exciting opportunity exists for a full-time Clinical Psychologist to join a dynamic psychology department providing input to our Young People's Inpatient Service. There are three units, consisting of an open acute unit, a psychiatric intensive care unit and a low secure unit. The service is well established and has a reputation for providing positive outcomes for the young people admitted. 

The successful applicant will be embedded within the multi-discplinary team within the acute service and will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the therapeutic model within the ward. The role is extremely diverse and involves assessment and formulation, a range of direct individual and group brief interventions, indirect working, consultation and training to the wider staffing team, and supporting psychological approaches to care. There will also be opportunity to provide clinical supervsion to other members of the psychological therapies team. There will be a benefit of protected caseloads within this role and the successful applicant will be clinically repsonsible for a maximum of one ward and will also be working alongside a qualified CBT Therapist.
Suitable candidates will have a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and be registered with the HCPC. They should have some interest in, knowledge of and experience of working psychologically with adolescents, complex client groups and risk, and dynamic and fast paced services and environments. Suitable candidates will also have the drive to develop innovative approaches to intervening psychologically with this client group, be interested in contributing to service development in conjunction with the lead clinician and have the desire to contribute to the wider literature and evidence base with regards to these clinical approaches and professional issues. 

There are excellent CPD and training opportunities for employees within this service, and funded and accredited training opportunites will be available and agreed as part of the role.  
The psychology department has strong research links with local Universities, providing placements for trainees from a number of different courses on both core and specialist placements.
