Job Advert Role Description

Set in the leafy suburb of Edgbaston, close to Birmingham City centre, Priory Hospital Woodbourne is set in beautiful grounds, conveniently located for access to the West Midlands motorway network and with good local public transport links.

Our unique range of services gives our colleagues the opportunity to develop skills and experience of working with a broad range of mental health conditions across five mental health service lines, across the hospital’s seven wards.

We provide a diverse range of inpatient services, adult acute, child and adolescent mental health, specialist eating disorder (including day care) and private acute and addictions treatment programmes. The Manor is a 9 bedded Private Mental Health ward providing assessment and treatment for general psychiatric and/or addiction treatment for Adults. The unique and exciting opportunity at this service means that you are working with individuals who are self-funding their treatment and in a place that they wish to actively engage in their recovery. 

This is a split role and will require working two days a week to support our CAMHS wards supporting young people between 12-18 years of age. Our CAMHS wards comprise of a PICU CAMHS 10 bed unit and a CAMHS GAU 14 bedded unit. Experience of working on CAMHS is desirable but not essential as this role may provide the opportunity to gain experience of working with young people. The lucky candidate will be part of a multidisciplinary team and will be required to attend CPAs, MDT and delivery of psychological assessments.

The successful applicant will be a qualified Counselling Psychologist and a member of a recognised professional association like HCPC and BPS or equivalent. Experience in group work is desirable and experience delivering psychometrics and formulations is essential. The preferred candidate will have extensive experience in offering one to one therapy to clients with a variety of emotional distress, the successful candidate will be experienced in assessments, MDT working with extensive knowledge of working with both child and adult caseloads. We invite Counselling Psychologist applicants with knowledge and/or experience in DBT, CBT and EMDR.
