Job Advert Role Description

Devon Children's Services specialises in high quality residential and educational provisions for children between 7-18 who may have SEMH and /or Autism. The safeguarding and wellbeing of our young people who may have experienced challenges in their lives is always paramount; along with encouragement to achieve their full potential.

Devon Children's Services currently have two educational settings, Quay View School and Tor View School, and four Children's Homes in Tavistock, Gunnislake and Okehampton.

*This position will attract a welcome bonus of £1,000 (terms and conditions apply). 

We are seeking an experienced Manager to support our Registered Managers across our four residential homes in Devon and Cornwall.  This Manager will work under the direction of the Head of Residential Services for a fixed term period of one year with potential for this to extend as our region grows.

The core task of this post will be to ensure that excellent standards of care and therapeutic services are maintained. You will ensure that the environment and all services provided comply with statutory regulations, governance and quality standards. You will liaise with outside agencies and stakeholders you will demonstrate professionalism and act as a role model for staff.

What we would like from you:

  • Hold a Social Work Degree or working towards a NVQ/QCF Level 5
  • Have some experience of managing in a residential/social care setting
  • Be a strong and effective individual
  • Be emotionally resilient
  • Have the ability to work flexibly and demonstrate resourcefulness
  • Have a strong 'can do' attitude
  • Have highly developed organisational skills
  • Have effective communication skills
