Job Advert Role Description

The opportunity has arisen for an Occupational Therapist to join the multidisciplinary team within Priory’s Gatehouse and Lochlea services. We are looking for a motivated, dedicated and innovative occupational therapist to work within both units. You will gain experience of working within a diverse range of mental health and personality disorders, within a secure, safe and homely setting  
Lochlea, based in Mauchline is a specialist stepdown remit with a focus on offering patients community transitional skills in a safe environment. The Gatehouse is based in the centre of Ayr and has a specialist secure care remit with a focus on offering female patients community transitional skills in a safe homely environment. 
Working within a low security environment and operating with a full multi-disciplinary team including OT,  psychiatry and psychology, service users are supported to develop living skills by encouraging an independent model of care. Both units deliver therapeutic, occupational and clinical interventions with access to local facilities. 
This is an exciting role for a new or experienced occupational therapist to join the team in this dynamic service which will offer you an opportunity to help shape and develop the service model.

 

This post provides an exciting opportunity for an innovative, enthusiastic therapist to join the multidisciplinary team and gain experience working within secure services. You must be a registered Occupational Therapist with valid HCPC Registration and be able to demonstrate excellent team working skills with the ability to work using own initiative. It is essential that you have effective listening, communication, interpersonal and time management skills along with the ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the post holder will manage own specialist caseload, under supervision of the Director of Clinical Services and Senior Occupational Therapist, using evidence based practice and client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in both hospital and community settings.

Responsibilities 
-Manage and co-ordinate the implementation of individual treatment plans for occupational therapy services ensuring treatment, activities and interventions are delivered through effective application and communication.
-Undertake patient assessment to identify patient need before planning and delivering appropriate and relevant interventions on either a group of individual basis. 
-Maintain and develop close working relationships with professional and clinical colleagues within the multidisciplinary team, ensuring that clinical practice is in line with Priory policies and procedures.-Provide an active part in transition planning and preparing patients for moving into their local communities
-Support the work of other Occupational Therapy staff at both sites
-Leading on further development and implementation of occupational therapy service within the site.
-Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives and team members throughout the patient’s rehabilitation.
