Job Advert Role Description

Kent House is a Low Secure Mental Health Hospital for young women 12 to 18 years of age who are detained under the Mental Health Act. It also has an Ofsted Registered school attached dedicated to support the young people with all aspects of education.

The service, on the outskirts of Orpington, has close links and transport to the local community and amenities.

We provide compassionate care for the young women admitted in a supportive environment adhering to the principles of Positive Behaviour Support, underpinned by thorough risk assessment and management. We are members of the Royal College of Psychiatry Quality Network for CAMHS.

To deliver a high quality clinical service to patients. To work closely with the unit’s wards’ and multi-disciplinary teams.
 The Responsible Clinician and the visiting General Practitioner will  ensure that patients receive a holistic and person-centered treatment programme based on the recovery model.
• Responsibilities
Undertake psychiatric and external assessments for clients referred to the unit hospital to determine the appropriate level of care to be provided, under the direction and supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist, and work with the units  as part of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure delivery of the Care Programme.
Prepare discharge summaries, reports and other associated documentation as necessary e.g. for CPA meetings, as directed and supervised by the Consultant Psychiatrist.
To be part of the daily handover for the hospital 
To ensure personal mandatory training and appraisal compliance is up to date.
Participation in learning activities and supervision.
Participation in Clinical Governance activities, and account for contracted hours utilised in research, Continuing Professional Development and other non-clinical duties as necessary and in a timely manner.
The post holder will be expected to support the GP in delivering physical health care and emergency treatment to patients in complex care.
Arrange appropriate clinical tests and investigations and take responsibility for chasing, following up the expected results and acting on them in a timely manner.
Ensure physical observations by ward staff are carried out in accordance with medical instructions. Review physical observation findings and act upon them in a clinically appropriate manner.
To be aware of regulatory compliance and standards and that they are adhered to. (CQC and QNMHS)
Specialty Doctors are expected to participate actively in clinical audits undertaken by the Consultant Psychiatrists and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
Any other duties considered to be commensurate with the level of the post
• Knowledge/ Education/ Skills 
MBBS or equivalent
MRCPsych / Section 12 approval 
Full GMC registration and license to practice
Proven record of CPD (Continued Professional Development)
