Job Advert Role Description

North Hill House School are seeking a Support Worker to be a key member of their support team. 

As a Support Worker you will:

  • Be a key member of our team, providing high standards of person-centred support and care to our service users
  • Use a creative and caring approach and build good relationships with both service users and their families, supporting service users in the planning of goals and in living as independently as possible
  • Be comfortable with providing personal care and participation in activities are key tasks for the role, so energy and initiative is vital
  • Be able to demonstrate a high degree of emotional resilience and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Skills required:

  • A QCF level 3 Diploma in relevant care/children & young people related area or equivalent or higher recognised qualification is required
  • It is not anticipated that all new recruits to the role will have QCF Level 3 qualification but will commence the attainment process within six months of joining and will have a specific time period in which to qualify
  • A clean driving licence with at least 3 years driving experience is essential.

Previous experience is not essential, providing you have a willingness to learn and the compassion and patience needed to support.  We would be aiming for the successful candidate to start in September 2021.

Set in its own grounds close to Frome town centre, North Hill House is an independent specialist day and residential school for children and young people aged 6 to 19 years with high functioning autistic spectrum disorders, including Asperger’s Syndrome and associated difficulties. 

Our school provides a strong focus for both UK and international students who need different levels of support to succeed, thus allowing our young people to thrive effectively in an ever-demanding and complex society.  Students have ambitions to live and work as self-reliant adults and we can help them to reach their goals with continued support, structure and guidance.  The school welcomes students on a day or weekly residential basis for 38 weeks per year.

For all roles we require a minimum of two references.  References provided must cover the last 3 years, for all of our services we will need to request all references from where you have worked with either Children or Vulnerable Adults. Please be advised that references will be requested prior to interview for all roles within our schools.
