We could have the opportunity for you as a Clinical Specialist.

We are looking for experienced Mental Health Nurses or Registered Doctors to deliver high quality clinical assessment, treatment and care to service users within one of our Hospitals. You will provide daily clinical leadership and support to the ward team, act as a role model for good practice across the whole service and engage with an array of professional and service development activities. We are looking for clinicians who strive for excellence and want to be part of an exciting new innovation within Priory Healthcare.

Priory Hospital Norwich is our new acute service which was opened in June 2020. We have invested heavily in Priory Hospital Norwich in order to revitalise our service and ensure that we put our patients at the centre of everything we do. We are currently in the process of a phased opening and are looking for candidates who are committed to being a part of our long term journey. We are a busy acute unit aiming to offer a high standard of care and deliver great outcomes for patients.


Your main duties in this role will include:

  • Undertaking initial assessments for service users admitted to the service to determine the appropriate level of care to be provided, under the direction and supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist, and work with the unit multi-disciplinary team to ensure delivery of the Care Programme.
  • Preparing discharge summaries, reports and other associated documentation as necessary e.g. for CPA meetings.
  • Working effectively with colleagues to ensure that service users have access to appropriate clinical cover at all times, which will require participation in an on-call rota for the site.
  • Undertaking prescribing duties within the parameters of their registration and competency.
  • Undertaking the risk assessment and adjustment of service user observation levels in conjunction with colleagues from the wider MDT.
  • Undertaking assessments for emergency detention under the Mental Health Act in line with professional background or delegated authority.
  • Arranging appropriate clinical tests and investigations and take responsibility for chasing up results and acting on them in a timely manner.
  • Participating in the on call rota.

About you:

We need you to be a Registered Mental Health Nurse with ideally one years’ experience undertaking non-medical prescribing duties OR a Registered Doctor with a license to practise who preferably has experience working within mental health.  We would also expect you to be an experienced and positive leader who is used to working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams, and are the type of person who strives for excellence in all aspects of their role ensuring that service users and their families are the key focus. 

For those nurses without advanced clinical skills training we will arrange a bespoke package of development and training to help support the creation of this new initiative.
