Job Advert - Division Information

WE ARE LOOKING FOR TALENTED PEOPLE LIKE YOU!!

Knowing that you’re making a difference to people’s lives is rewarding in itself. But our many roles offer much more than that. As well as helping you grow and develop your talent, we want you to feel proud of where you work and what you do.

Job Advert Role Description

Priory Hospital Dewsbury is a purpose built 32 bedded locked service, supporting two different service user groups:

Hartley Ward focuses upon the active rehabilitation of men with mental health issues. The emphasis is upon stabilising mental health, reducing risks and enhancing independent living skills, with a view to reintegration into the community.

Jubilee Ward supports men with Dementia and/or other neurodegenerative disorders, along with behaviours that challenge. We recognise that a number of our clients on Jubilee Ward require a longer term placement.

The role of the Occupational Therapy Assistant is to be responsible for facilitating meaningful and stimulating activities for patients with cognitive decline and challenging behaviours. The role will involve following a weekly structured timetable developed by the Occupational Therapist and being present on the ward on a daily basis to encourage the patients to engage in meaningful activities to enhance their quality of life. The candidate will be expected to also complete computer based work such as developing monthly newsletters, facilitating celebrations for events and to be proactive in their approach with the patients.
