Job Advert Role Description

Newbury Manor School is a specialist school for young people aged 7 to 19 who have autistic spectrum disorders (ASD). Our tailored approach means we are able to support young people with a wide range of needs, from those who are broadly average in their ability to others, who have more severe learning difficulties.

We provide a total environment where young people are offered safe, secure and predictable surroundings in which they can come to understand their own areas of difficulties and learn skills and techniques in order to overcome them. This ensures that they are able to fulfil their potential socially, academically, physically and spiritually and enable them to rebuild their low self-esteem and self-belief.

We take pride in the environment we can offer.

The school is located in a beautiful, quiet, rural location in Somerset in a Georgian manor house, which has a range of outbuildings and extensive grounds. Our ethos was created in the belief that a positive, supportive, achieving culture is essential for good pupil progress. We seek to maximise independence and individual potential so pupils gain the skills to live happy, meaningful and fulfilling lives.

A qualified teacher – and preferably holding an NPQH – you will demonstrate a wide range of SEN experience and have proven leadership and management expertise. An outstanding relationship builder, you will also know how to inspire exceptional performance and maintain a positive and enthusiastic learning environment for pupils and colleagues alike. You will lead and manage the development and implementation of the curriculum and education programmes through the process of continuous improvements, the effective use of self-assessment methods and the efficient deployment of staff.

The successful candidate must come from an SEN background with an excellent understanding of ASD. Experience of leading a broad and flexible curriculum is important to ensure that we can offer support to all year groups.

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified experienced teacher with relevant post-graduate specialist qualifications together with a sound understanding of the current legislation and statutory regulations relating to education and care.

This is an exciting opportunity for an innovative and inspiring leader to join our school community and play an integral part in developing 'outstanding' provision.

If you share our determination to achieve the best possible outcomes for all our pupils, we can promise you a collaborative culture, ongoing professional development and ample scope to use your creativity and initiative as part of a highly energised and supportive team.

Full training and development will be provided along with a bespoke induction programme and the ability to network with colleagues across other Priory sites.
