Job Advert Role Description

Aynsley Tea Rooms is an inspirational adventure situated in Queen’s Park; offering training and work opportunities for young people with learning difficulties or disabilities.

The cook will be responsible for the planning, preparing and serving of good quality food to service the customer demand. The role holder will ensure that all activities and operations comply with operational and statutory regulations.

  • Ensure safeguarding of learners at all times.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient delivery of food from a varied menu; taking into account customer requirements and business demand.
  • Ensure the smooth running of the kitchen to meet the operational demands of Aynsley Tea Rooms.
  • Provide training and support to young people with a learning difficulty or disability to develop their catering and customer service skills.
  • Ensure that at all times the kitchen/cafe meet legislation standards.
  • Work proactively with other colleagues to develop and enhance the business for its reputation as a training facility.
  • Ensure a smooth and safe opening and closing of the café with regards to key holder status as well as adhering to setting up and cashing up procedures each day.

Strathmore College is a residential and day college in Stoke on Trent.  The college provides for learners aged 16-25 years who have learning difficulties, emotional, social and behavioural difficulties/disability.  The cohort of learners’ needs include mild to severe learning difficulty/disability, Downs Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum Conditions, speech and language difficulties coupled with other health related, mental or physical difficulties.  The learner’s needs are increasingly more complex, with a number of learners who were NEET and those who were finding engaging in education and learning challenging. The College uses meaningful, practical learning activities to engage and motivate learners.
