Job Advert Role Description
We provide a total environment where young people are offered safe, secure and predictable surroundings in which they can come to understand their own areas of difficulties and learn skills and techniques in order to overcome them. This ensures that they are able to fulfil their potential socially, academically, physically and spiritually and enable them to rebuild their low self-esteem and self-belief.
We take pride in the environment we can offer. The school is located in a beautiful, quiet, rural location in Somerset in a Georgian manor house, which has a range of outbuildings and extensive grounds. Our ethos was created in the belief that a positive, supportive, achieving culture is essential for good pupil progress. We seek to maximise independence and individual potential so pupils gain the skills to live happy, meaningful and fulfilling lives.
About the role:
We require a motivated, skilled and resilient SpLD qualified primary or middle years teacher with experience of supporting young people on the autistic spectrum. The role will suit a qualified teacher who can demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and the ability to teach effectively across a range of subject areas, and across all age groups.
You will have a flexible approach and will be able to meet the changing needs of our young people. You will be able to demonstrate significant experience of working with young people with complex needs, and have the confidence and skills to deal with the challenging behaviour that some of our young people can, at times, exhibit. Ideally, you will have experience of working with young people who require personal care and have complex communication issues. We are looking for enthusiasm, willingness to learn and emotional resilience are essential attributes. As Class Teacher, you will direct and mentor classroom support staff.
Experience of working in a SEN environment is essential, along with knowledge of working with ASD and complex needs.
You will join a supportive and experienced team of dedicated education and support staff. You will be given full training and development will be provided along with a bespoke induction programme and the ability to network with teachers across other Priory Education sites.
Driving experience is essential.
