Job Advert Role Description

Can you support people to live their best lives? If you can: We are looking to recruit staff with experience of working with individuals that have behaviours that challenge, however applicants with less or no experience will also be considered if they wish to consider this as a career path.

Marshlands residential home is situated near the quiet town of Lydd on the Romney Marsh. We support adults with a diagnosis of learning disability, autism, mental health, epilepsy and behaviours that challenge, some of whom are supported 1:1 or 2:1 during the day and 1:1 or shared hours during the night.

Our aim is to support individuals in their own flats that contain a bedroom with en-suite, lounge diner as well as an assisted kitchen to develop their daily living skills and focus on promoting independence. Works are currently underway to refurbish areas of the home and ensure each individual residing in the flat has a core staff team to enhance their lives day to day.

The home has a large wrap around garden with opportunities to sit in a quiet tranquil area or take part in activities in the main part of the garden. Within the garden there is a day center which is utilised daily and individuals are supported and encouraged to tend the gardens, complete art and crafts of their choice, attend themed nights, take part in karaoke and utilise the kitchen area to make their own lunches.

Within Marshlands itself, individuals are encouraged to complete daily living skills including personal care, laundry, hoovering and cooking to empower our residents to become more independent with positive prompts from staff. For those individuals already residing in flats, this approach is the same and all staff work in a structured consistent person centered way.
Some of the external activities that we offer at Marshlands include participating in their weekly shopping, including personal shopping, days out to places of their choosing, swimming, horse riding, pub trips, local trips out to nature reserves, annual holidays or short breaks throughout the year and many more.
