Job Advert Role Description

Aire House supported living has a 4 flat supported living service currently open and we are also opening a new supported living service consisting of 5 flats in the heart of Harrogate around March 2021. Aire House Supported Living provides assessment and support for adults living with a primary learning disability diagnosis but may present complex conditions.
Our service offers 24/7 specialist supported living care which is designed to provide just the right level of support; we encourage individuals to develop the skills that they need to live as independently as possible. We offer 1:1 staffing where required.
Within the homes we continually promote the development of social skills, independent living and personal responsibility. We find that the people who live at Aire House supported living are very proud of their homes as they are directly involved in creating it. Individuals get involved in daily duties such as cooking, doing laundry and cleaning, depending upon their ability.
Many enjoy the social occasions arranged by Aire House supported living , such as: eating out, going shopping, going to music concerts, football or rugby matches, trips to theme parks, visits to the local Turkish spa baths and much, much more.
Approximately a five minute walk away there are local shops in the town centre and large supermarket. Harrogate has a main college just outside of town and there are smaller learning centres in and around the local area.

As a senior support worker you must be committed to working in a person centred way that promotes independence and social inclusion.
You will be expected to provide support in a way that reflects the wishes and needs of the people you are supporting, and is consistent with their individual support plans.
You will support people to maintain a home of their own and to lead rich and fulfilled lives as valued and contributing members of their community.
You will be responsible for leading the shift, medication administration where applicable, staff supervisions, medication management, client monies, update and review care plans.
You will be expected to comply with all regulation as defined in policies, in supervisions and in training sessions.
You will also be expected to attend supervisions, team meetings and training and ensure that you provide good communication to your manager and colleagues.
You should have initiative and motivation to work alone, as well as part of an established team.
You must be able to relate to people; be a good listener and communicator.
Personal Care maybe required as part of the job role.
It is essential to have experience of working with people with a learning disabilities and complex needs for this job role.
 
Behaviours that may challenge may be shown within this job role therefore full training will be given before starting as,as a senior support worker you will be there to support your team and complete debriefs with your teams following this.
You must demonstrate an understanding of the issues faced by people with learning disabilities and an enthusiasm for working and supporting them to take control of their lives in a Supported Living Enviroment. 
Successful Applicants for this role may be required to attend person centred training for all residents and support with the transition into the new properties before the new site opens in April should the applicant be successful for this site however a senior role is also available in our established supported living site also in Harrogate where you will be expected to shadow our current senior support workers to learn the role.
Shift patterns will be 8am to 8pm or 9am till 9pm with a rolling weekend rota
