Job Advert Role Description

Tadley Court school is set in a beautiful semi rural location with four acres of well maintained grounds. We are a day school with six associated Children's Homes specialising in the education and care of children and young people between the age of 4 and 19 years who are diagnosed as being on the autistic spectrum with associated learning difficulties. Our children and young people may also exhibit challenging behaviour as a result of their communication difficulties and lack of social understanding.

We offer a safe, structured and predictable environment where students can develop the skills needed to live as independently as possible allowing them to make real life choices as they approach and reach adulthood.

To succeed we need people who share our passion for making a difference. Ideally you will have previous experience of autism, although a comprehensive package of training is provided during induction. We are wholly committed to safeguarding children and putting their welfare at the centre of everything we do; and fully expect all staff to share this commitment.

Are you ready to make a real and lasting difference? Would you like to be part of a team committed to ensuring that vulnerable children and young people achieve their full potential?

We are looking to recruit a positive behaviour support (PBS) practitioner (term-time only).

The PBS practitioner, as part of the wider pastoral team, will work closely with the children and young people to develop and implement personalised support plans that both meet their needs and help to grow their independence and life skills. That includes promoting the use of PROACT-SCIPr-UK®. The post holder will use their expertise to support predominantly in the following areas:

  • Functional Behaviour Assessment
  • Behaviour Support Planning (BSP)
  • Incident analysis & debrief
  • Working with families
  • Develop and promote the school pastoral and PBS strategy.
  • Staff training & development

This is an exciting new role within the school working with the Deputy Head teacher and existing pastoral team, to ensure the best outcomes for our young people.

The successful candidate will:

  •  Be qualified or willing and able to work towards Instructor Level of PROACT SCIP ®-UK
  • Have an understanding of the legal frameworks involved in restrictive practice such as Mental capacity.
  • Demonstrate the ability to complete behaviour assessment tools and write reports relating to behaviour to a high standard

In addition, it would be desirable for the candidate to be able to demonstrate:

  • A history of direct support experience with people with learning disabilities and/or ASC and Challenging Behaviour
  • A history in conducting assessment and developing, implementing and evaluating interventions for individuals presenting with Challenging Behaviours
  • A history of development and delivery of Positive Behaviour Support training
  • A history of reducing the use of restrictive practices
  • A sound understanding of Safeguarding practices within education settings is a must.
