Job Advert Role Description

Our children's home in Hereford are recruiting for a committed Deputy Manager to join their supportive team. 

The successful candidate will provide residential care for up to 7 young people ranging in age from 13 - 17 years old.  Woodbury House prides itself on the outcomes that it has achieved for all the young people.  Staff work hard in building up relationships and this is done by being fair with all and putting firm boundaries in place so that young people understand that poor actions and decisions will be challenged and positive actions and decisions will be rewarded.

Our aim is to bring about the best in every young person to enable them to achieve positive experiences and progress according to their own individual abilities.  The desired outcome is for our young people to achieve success in accredited qualifications and to gain increased levels of independence to enable them to maximise their strengths, abilities and ambitions.

Role duties will include:

  • Under the direction of the Registered House Manager, you will lead our team of support workers and enable the delivery of care and education to all the students and young people
  • You will effectively guide and manage the team and ensure that the service complies with local procedures and corporate policy, statutory regulations and quality standards
  • Attending and leading meetings within the home and with external agencies associated with the care of our young people
  • Robust understanding of Safeguarding and child protection
  • Financial viability and handling of site funds
  • Report writing and comprehensive assessment Care plans, behaviour plans, risk assessment, daily observations, monthly review reports, absence and incident records.

  • An NVQ/Diploma Level 3 in Health & Social Care/Children's Residential homes is essential
  • An NVQ/Diploma Level 5 in Leadership and Management for residential child care is not essential but training will be provided to complete this award
  • Essential relevant experience in a children's residential child care setting
  • Experience of leading teams and individuals in a supervisory capacity is preferred however not essential where there is sustained experience in shift leading and planning.
