The Priory Hospital Middleton St George is a 101 bedded mental hospital  located close to Darlington, County Durham. We  provide individualised treatment and care for people with complex mental health needs of adult working age, in a safe and supportive environment. 

We are a hospital in the independent sector, however all our patients are NHS patients and we work closely with NHS Trusts nationally to provide comprehensive and holistic integrated services to ensure recovery, re-engagement, re-enablement and safe discharge.

Dalton Ward - 13 bedded Female Rehabilitation and Recovery Ward

Linden Ward - 15 bedded Male Rehabilitation and Recovery Ward

Hazelwood Ward - 10 bedded Specialist Female Rehabilitation and Recovery Ward

Thoburn Ward - 22 bedded Mixed Acute Ward

Chester Ward - 10 bedded Female Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit

Birch Ward - 10 bedded Male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit

Station Road - 3 bedded Community House.

Oak Ward - 12 bedded Female Acute Ward.



We are seeking a Full Time Consultant Psychiatrist who will work alongside a dedicated Advanced Practitioner to care for 12 Female Acute patients on Oak Ward.

- Previous Consultant experience is desirable, but not essential
-You will fulfil the role of Responsible Clinician to patients.
-You must hold a CCST/CCT or equivalent in the relevant areas of psychiatry and have experience of working in in-patient settings with people with complex mental health difficulties.
-Valid GMC Registration.
-Evidence of involvement in Continuous Professional Development.
-A positive attitude and commitment to change, improvement and quality.
-Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills.
-The post holder will participate in a 1 in 7 second on-call rota and provide senior support, to the first on-call, usually an Advanced Practitioner/Specialty Doctor. 


-You will have your own office and good admin support.
-A dedicated Advanced Practitioner to support your clinical duties.
-On-site GP Services.
