Job Advert Role Description

Priory Group is the UK’S leading independent provider of mental health care and education services.  We have an outstanding reputation both for the service we deliver and for the investment we make in our people and in our environment.

Set within landscaped gardens in Cheshire, Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal (close to Manchester) offers a range of complex mental health services, providing clinical excellence in our eating disorders, adolescent, rehabilitation, acute and PICU services. We use an eclectic model of care and intervention, drawing on a variety of evidence-based approaches.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Therapist to join the Psychology department working on the Eating Disorders Inpatient Units. Priory is the UK's largest independent provider of Eating Disorder Services. We have a national offering of both outpatient and specialist residential services and also offer day care provisions at selected locations including at Cheadle Royal hospital.

The successful applicant will work with a multi-disciplinary therapies team, including Psychologists, Family Therapy and Assistant Psychologists, which is embedded within a wider multi-disciplinary team of clinical professionals. The care and treatment provided address both the physical consequences of the eating disorder, as well as the related underlying psychological and social factors. The basic aim of treatment is to help to restore a healthier eating pattern whilst providing psychological support to help with the feelings that emerge during this process. The applicant will be involved in delivering both group and individual evidenced based therapies.

Suitable candidates will have interest in and knowledge of therapeutic approaches to eating disorders. They will be willing to develop skills in the use of MANTRA (Maudsley Model of Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults), which is a recommended treatment for Anorexia Nervosa in NICE guidelines, 2017. Some previous experience with this client group is desirable, but not essential, and some additional training could be provided subject to the successful completion of a probationary period. The post holder will need to be able to form positive relationships with colleagues and be interested in working in teams.

Suitable candidates will have completed training and be qualified in a psychological therapy (e.g. CBT, psychodynamic therapy) and be accredited or accreditable with the UKCP, BABCP or BACP. To have completed training to Masters level or have a core profession e.g. RMN or OT.

There are excellent CPD and training opportunities for employees within this service, and funded and accredited training opportunities will be available and agreed as part of the role (subject the completion of a probationary period). Attendance at national conferences and research interests are also encouraged.
