Set in the leafy suburb of Edgbaston, close to Birmingham City centre, Priory Hospital Woodbourne is set in beautiful grounds, conveniently located for access to the West Midlands motorway network and with good local public transport links.

We provide a diverse range of inpatient services, including acute care for adults (Maple, Beech and soon to be opened, Acer ward), CAMHS (Blossom PICU & Mulberry GAU), specialist eating disorder (Oak) and private acute and addictions treatment programmes (Manor).  Our multi-disciplinary teams take great pride in delivering personalised treatment programmes to our patients and have established an excellent reputation for providing the highest standards of care.

The role:

Speciality Doctors at Woodbourne join a committed team of substantive medical staff: each ward is led by a dedicated Consultant Psychiatrist supported by their Speciality Grade Doctor or Physician’s Associate, along with a dedicated Multi-Disciplinary Team comprising of Ward Managers, Charge Nurses, Speciality Doctors, Support Workers, Psychologists, Art Therapist, Family Therapist, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers and Activity Coordinators.

 

We provide an excellent opportunity to develop your clinical knowledge and practice working alongside our experienced Consultant Psychiatrists and other clinicians, offering a wide variety of clinical practice in Mental Health across a single site.   Priory Healthcare offers a solid commitment to your CPD and has an excellent track record in supporting Speciality Grade Doctors to achieve success in professional examinations and to move on to higher specialist training.

 

We currently have two vacancies: the first is working as part of our CAMHS Acute team (Mulberry  ward), providing support to up to 14 young people aged 12 to 17 years and the second is working as part of our Adult Acute team (across Acer and Manor wards) giving the unique opportunity to work with both NHS-funded and private admissions.  These are exciting and varied roles, with the following key accountabilities:

 

- Undertake psychiatric and external assessments for clients referred to the unit to determine the appropriate level of care to be provided, under the direction and supervision of the Consultant Psychiatrist, and work with the unit multidisciplinary team to ensure delivery of the Care Programme

- Day to day medical management of patients on the ward including undertaking mental state assessments, risk assessment and management, MDT attendance

- Prepare discharge summaries, reports and other associated documentation as necessary e.g. for CPA meetings, as directed and supervised by the Consultant Psychiatrist
