Job Advert Role Description
Llanarth Court Hospital is a 96 bedded forensic hospital providing a secure environment consisiting of medium, low and open rehabilitation settings for men and women with mental illness and or personality disorder.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Healthcare Worker to secure a position as a Senior Healthcare Worker at Llanarth Court Hospital to support and assist registered nurses in the delivery of quality care.
Main Duties
Assists qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed to facilitate the wellbeing, dignity and treatment of all patients.
Provides practical support and responsive care to patients who require assistance with intimate personal needs such as dressing, bathing and toileting activities ensuring that such activities comply with procedures and the relevant healthcare legislation.
Observes and monitors the wellbeing of patients ensuring that any unusual physical, mental or emotional occurrences are promptly referred to senior staff/the primary nurse and documented as appropriate.
Be prepared to take on additional responsibilities subject to service need and competence achievement such as handcuffing.
To assist in the maintenance of ward cleanliness and tidiness and adhere to infection control policy and procedures at all times.
Deliver training topics including Prevent, PBS and Security Awareness.
Act as both a hospital driver and escort patients into the community
Demonstrate initiative, communicate well and work effectively as part of a team.
Maintain documentation to a high standard and be prepared to contribute to ICR meetings.
Support, guide and monitor junior healthcare workers
Be a positive role model and display a positive approach to undertaking new initiatives.
Act as a ward champion in specialist areas of service delivery For example safe wards
Contribute to development and implementation of care and treatment plans and advanced directives within the sphere of their responsibility.
Promote an understanding of mental illness and managing challenging behaviours.
Skills and Experience
Experience of working as healthcare worker in a similar envrionment for a minumum of 2 years
Demonstrate ability to undertake new initiatives on ward
A flexible and positive approach is required. The successful candidate must have a clean driving licsence and be able to deliver training topics confidently, supervise and support junior healthcare workers.
Qualifications
Educated to a minimum NVQ 1 or GCSE's in English and Mathematics. Although NVQ level 3 would be advantageous.
Has completed the Care Certificate
Understands the need for strict confidentiality
