Job Advert Role Description
Priory Hospital Bristol offers calming and recovery focused inpatient treatment for up to 68 service users as well as day care and outpatient services. Personalised treatment programmes are delivered by our multidisciplinary team, specialising in the management and treatment of acute and complex mental health problems.
You will be involved in the personal care and meeting the psychological needs of a diverse group of service users with varying degrees of mental and physical issues. You will be caring and attentive with the skills to build strong and trusting relationships with people. It is also important that you work well in a team as you will work alongside qualified nurses and staff from other professions.
We are seeking experienced Healthcare Assistant/Support Workers to work on our newly opening Adult Male Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), 37.5 hours per week, working days and nights on rotation.
We are looking to recruit personable, flexible and motivated Healthcare Assistants (“HCA”) to support our qualified staff with the delivery of care to our patients. You will be involved in the personal care and meeting the psychological needs of a diverse group of adult males with acute psychiatric presentations. As a HCA, you'll be under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional, usually a nurse, and work with doctors, psychologists and a range of other healthcare professionals. The main contact you'll have, though, is with the people in our care. Your experience and on-going Priory training will prepare you to deal with any difficult situations that may occur, teaching you how to handle such situations safely using de-escalation techniques and supporting your team.
You will need experience of working in lively, sometimes volatile situations, and are prepared to work in fast paced environment.
Experience Required:
Previous experience within a male PICU healthcare setting desirable
A strong sense of responsibility & ownership
Willingness to learn
Excellent written and face to face communication skills
Flexibility and strong “can do” attitude
