Job Advert Role Description
We are seeking a Residential Support Worker to join our children's home in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

Our home supports up to three young people of either gender between the age of 8 to 18 years of age. The young people we support have challenging behaviours and emotional behavioural difficulties.
Our Residential Support Workers are key members of our team. This is an exciting opportunity to join our forward thinking children’s home that is at the forefront of children’s residential care.
Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will need to hold a full UK driving licence.
Our Residential Support Workers support with the following:
- Supporting the young people in every day living including transporting to and from school placements
- Being the young person’s advocate when they cannot do this for themselves
- Working as a team and supporting colleagues and senior staff
- Ensuring administration is completed in line with statutory regulations
- Assisting senior staff with the writing and maintaining of placement and risk management plans
- Confident with managing behaviours that challenge
- Liaising with external agencies and represent the home to a high standard.
- Supervising family contact sessions
- Encouraging educational engagement.
A Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification is desirable for this role. The successful candidate will complete this within an agreed timeframe.
We use a rota system to ensure the young people in our home get the care they need. This may include working some weekends and bank holidays. A normal example would be a 15 hour shift including a sleep in.
An example shift pattern would be:
Monday 8.00am - 23.00pm plus sleep in
Tuesday 8.00am - 23.00pm plus sleep in
Finish at 9am Wednesday morning.
