Ready for the recognition and rewards you deserve?

We don’t just talk about putting employees first. We know that Priory wouldn’t exist without their combined energy, expertise and effort.  So we invest heavily in training, provide first-class support, promote collaborative teamwork and give everyone on our team the opportunities and resources to achieve their full potential.

Job Advert Role Description

Priory Group is the UK’S leading independent provider of mental health care and education services.  We have an outstanding reputation both for the service we deliver and for the investment we make in our people and in our environment.

Set within landscaped gardens in Cheshire, Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal (close to Manchester) offers a range of complex mental health services, providing clinical excellence in our eating disorders, adolescent, rehabilitation, acute and PICU services. We use an eclectic model of care and intervention, drawing on a variety of evidence-based approaches.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic part time systemic practitioner to work in our ten bed Adolescent Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit. This position is a training post and funding will be available for the candidate to complete a part time Masters in Family Therapy. Therefore, the successful candidate will need to meet the entry requirements for this course including:
• Professional training (normally at graduate level) in mental health or social care
• Successful completion of the Intermediate level training in Systemic Practice or equivalent. This is a compulsory criterion for this role.

The ideal candidate will have some experience working with young people and families experiencing a high degree of distress and will be committed to working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The role involves undertaking assessments and making recommendations for systemic work for young people as they move into other services, offering family therapy to individual families and supporting the team to think systemically in formal and informal contexts.

As part of a small, friendly team of family therapists there is the opportunity to work within a weekly family therapy clinic with a range of clients from across the CAMHS and Adult Eating Disorder services within Cheadle Priory. The small network of family therapists working in tier four services meet regularly to share best practice and to facilitate continuing professional development. Systemic supervision is provided on site.

The funding for the masters training will be made available upon successful completion of a 6 month probationary period and the successful candidate would need to make an application independently to one of the local courses. There will be an expectation that the training would be accessed in the employee's own time outside of the 0.6 working week. The successful applicant would also be expected to sign a training contract which obtains their agreement to remain with the Priory 3 years post qualification or they will be required to pay back a proportion of the course fees.
