We don’t just talk about putting employees first. We know that Priory wouldn’t exist without their combined energy, expertise and effort.  So we invest heavily in training, provide first-class support, promote collaborative teamwork and give everyone on our team the opportunities and resources to achieve their full potential.

Job Advert Role Description

Set within landscaped gardens, the safe and supportive environment of the Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal offers a comprehensive inpatient specialist mental health service for young people and adults. The service is dedicated to providing innovative, high quality care and treatment for service users with challenging and complex needs, in order to enable their recovery and re-engagement with the community.

Fern ward is a 10-bedded locked rehabilitation unit that runs a comprehensive Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) programme for women with a primary diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder. Patients admitted to the ward for treatment may also have co-morbid mental disorders such as psychosis, substance misuse, eating disorders, and complex PTSD.  As the ward is a locked unit it will represent the least restrictive option for patients whose risk of suicide or disabling self-harm is very high, and/or where less restrictive settings have been unable to provide the necessary treatment in a safe environment. The model of care is DBT based on principles of recovery.

An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join the multi-disciplinary team on Fern ward at Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal. We are looking for a proactive clinician with a passion for delivering innovative therapeutic care to the women on our programme. The successful candidate will be offered the opportunity to train in DBT, however clinical experience working with this treatment model is desirable.

Roles and responsibilities include:

  • Providing assessment and treatment of a designated case load within the frame work of an established rehabilitation programme.
  • Applying patient-centred principles to assessment, intervention and evaluation.
  • Ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the Occupational Therapy process in line with sound evidence based practice.
  • Participation in MDT, CPA, case conferences, referral meetings and nursing handover.
  • Ongoing development of skills and knowledge, through participation in CPD and Professional Development Planning.
  • Line-management and supervision of a part-time Technical Instructor.

The successful candidate will also be expected to abide by the College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and the College of Occupational Therapy Professional Standards for Practice.
In return for your hardwork we will offer you:

  • The additional benefits to the role are:
  • 25 days annual leave (plus 8 Bank holidays) increasing with length of service
  • Birthday leave
  • Free on site parking
  • Subsidised meals
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Priory Perks discount portal
  • Long Service recognition
  • Enhanced sick pay and maternity pay after 1 years service
  • Wellbeing committee and full access to our Employee Assistance Programme
  • Comprehensive Induction
  • CPD courses and support
