Are you an enthusiastic individual looking for a new challenge within the care sector? Priory Adult Care is looking for a creative activities co-ordinator to join our team at our service The Birches in Chesterfield. 

The Birches (part of Priory Adult Care) is a specialist service developed to support the mental health and learning disability needs of 7 individuals aged 18 years and over. 

The Birches is a service designed to assist in the gradual integration and rehabilitation back into the community, through person centred support planning and risk assessment, enabling and empowering the people we support. We focus on providing innovative therapeutic treatment and support to each person on an individual basis and our residents are given both the support and encouragement to live as independently as possible.

 

 

The Role

As Activities Co-ordinator you will look to create, plan and organise an interesting and varied program of daily activities, entertainment and events, promoting the wellbeing of the residents. Duties may include the following:

  • Liaise with external companies to organise entertainment
  • Listening to the residents though conversation and questionnaires to aid producing a popular program of events/activities/entertainment
  • Develop a rapport with local community churches, schools, gyms etc,
  • Work alongside care staff, coordinating hairdressing/chiropody visits etc.
  • Organise raffles & fund raising events for the residents to be actively involved in. Supporting residents understanding when fundraising for a chosen charity
  • Documenting involvement in daily care records
  • Generating specific activities care plans and planners for those we support depending in their need and risk presentation to support stimulation and minimise incidents
  • Be an active member of the staff team in reviewing the care plans relating to activities on a monthly basis
  • Completion of activities centred audits
  • Generating risk assessments around specific activities

Due to the complex nature of the needs of the people we support at The Birches an Activities Coordinator has been recognised as a crucial role to support the psychological well-being and stability of the people we support. We are therefore looking for an optimistic, outgoing, passionate individual with a creative flair. 

 

The ideal person will be organised and have some experience working with in the care sector, therefore being able to understand the needs of residents aiding activity choices. No experience as Activates Co-ordinator is required but a positive, enthusiastic attitude is a must.
