Job Advert Role Description

We are recruiting for a Housekeeper on full / part time basis with working hours typically being 11am - 5pm with some flexibility for the right candidate.  We are looking to recruit into this post ASAP.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of Housekeeping and ideally will have 2 years previous experience in a cleaning post.  You will be based in our Campus in Banks but occasionally you may be asked to work across our other college and residential sites within the local area.  We are looking for someone with empathy for daily challenges faced by our students as you will often be working around the young people and staff during your daily duties.

The successful candidate will have a can do attitude, and be able to manage their time effectively and understand the college ethos that the young people's needs come first.

Owning your own vehicle is desirable and any mileage incurred can be claimed back as part of expenses. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check which will be paid for by the Priory Group.

Typical daily duties will include:

  • Thorough cleaning of all areas of the main college
  • Following daily cleaning schedules and ensuring appropriate paperwork is completed
  • Following Health and Safety guidelines in line with Priory policies
  • Reporting anything that may need maintenance assistance to your line manager
  • Ensuring all learning and work areas are clean environments for the pupils and staff to work in
  • Classrooms should be cleaned and ready for use the following day
  • Ensuring all visitor and meeting areas are kept clean and presentable
  • Toilets and bins to be cleaned and emptied daily
  • Having a flexible approach and be able to respond quickly to requests for assistance 
  • You will have a good knowledge of health and safety and COSHH legislation applicable to your role and will ensure it is adhered to.

Arden College is situated in the heart of Southport, a vibrant and cultured town on the west coast of Lancashire. The college makes the most of its position and much of the extended college curriculum is located within the community and vocational settings within the region. The college is a co-educational residential and day specialist college for students aged 16-25 years with Autism and learning disabilities. Individual College programmes of day or residential  support are available as either 38 of 52 week placements for up to a three year period and are subject to regular reviews to ensure the students needs are being met. The focus is to ensure that learners are prepared for independent adult life as much as possible.

Arden college provides an inclusive communication environment that supports students with their individualised communication systems. This includes spoken words, signing and both high tech and low tech AAC systems.  Arden college is inspected by OFSTED and is graded as Good (2019).  All of Arden's residential units are inspected by CQC and are all rated as compliant.
