Priory Group is the leading healthcare provider for mental health services in the UK with an established track record of delivering high-quality clinical care. The Priory Hospital Southampton is part of the Priory group offering outpatient, day care and inpatient treatment for a wide range of mental health difficulties. The hospital is located in Marchwood on the outskirts of Southampton and comprises 40 inpatient beds across three wards. 
Sandpiper Ward: This is an acute admissions unit comprising 17 beds.  Skylark Ward:  11 bedded specialist eating disorders unit 
Kingfisher Ward:  12 bedded CAMHS inpatient unit 
The hospital has a combination of employed and visiting consultants and well established multidisciplinary teams in all wards including nursing, therapy, occupational therapy and psychology input.  
The hospital provides a combination of NHS funded and private care and has been rated as “Good” in recent CQC inspection with “outstanding” rating in the "caring" domain.


The main purpose of the Occupational Therapist (OT) is to provide occupational therapy interventions for clients using evidence based, client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions. To promote and develop the role of Occupational Therapy within the clinical area

The successful candidate will join a passionate and supportive OT team divided across three wards in the hospital. This role will involve working closely with another OT and develop a split role across the two Adult Service pathways, Adult Acute and Eating Disorder service. 

The duties of the role include;
- Manage and co-ordinate the implementation of individual treatment plans for occupational therapy services ensuring treatments, activities, interventions and group programmes are delivered through effective application and communication.  
- Provide a range of clinical interventions and demonstrate knowledge of models of practice.
- Respond promptly to referrals undertaking patient assessments to identify and prioritise patient needs before planning and delivering the appropriate and relevant interventions either on an individual or group basis. 
- Maintain accurate and timely records detailing each patient’s progress, including robust outcome measures where possible.
- Engage actively in practice development, evaluation, audit and research activities relevant to occupational therapy and the service.
- Maintain and develop close working relationships with professional and clinical colleagues within the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring clinical practice is in line with Priory policies and procedures and complies with statutory regulations and quality standards.
- Assist less experienced colleagues and occasionally provide professional supervision to students, trainees OTA’s and Activity Co-ordinators if needed. 
- Share responsibility for ward based budgets & equipment, ensuring the serviceability of equipment and for replenishing supplies of materials for groups and activities on the ward.  
- Confidentiality, security and accuracy of patient records, data and information. 
The successful candidate will ideally have experience of working within mental health and/or eating disorders. However this role could be suitable for a newly qualified OT and if so, the candidate would be offered the Royal College of Occupational Therapist (RCOT) full 12 month preceptorship carried out by your line manager.
