Job Advert Role Description

The Priory Woodbourne Hospital School operates across two CAMHS wards within a psychiatric hospital. We have a maximum of 22 secondary-aged pupils who are admitted to the hospital for treatment of conditions such as eating disorders, self-harm, depression, anxiety, OCD and psychosis. Pupils are on roll for an average of 9 weeks and the role of our school is to maintain their right to an education whilst they are in hospital and prepare them for the next stage of their educational journey.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning weekly learning intentions for each pupil and preparing and organising resources to support pupils to meet these. They will support pupils in lessons and record progress towards the goals that have been set. This would be for maths and/or science. The remainder of teaching time will be spent supporting pupils in other subjects. All of our teachers participate in a weekly meeting to review the social and emotional progress of each young person and meet with their tutees each week to discuss their progress. Our pupils can make rapid progress and the ideal candidate will be good at building rapport with young people and have the ability to be flexible and adaptable in their approach and teaching practice. Experience of working, in any role, with young people who have mental health difficulties would be an advantage along with good knowledge of the National Curriculum for maths and/or science.
